Codex Committee on Processed Fruits and Vegetables (CCPFV)

The Codex Committee for Processed Fruits and Vegetables (CCPFV) was established in 1963. The Government of the United States of America agreed to host the Committee, with a remit to elaborate worldwide standards for “all types of processed fruits and vegetables including dried products, canned dried peas and beans, jams and jellies, but not dried prunes or fruit and vegetable juices.” 

The CCPFV assumed responsibility for quick frozen fruits and vegetables in 1999 with the abolition of the Joint UNECE/Codex Groups of Experts on the Standardization of Quick-Frozen Foods (GEQFF) and when the Ad Hoc Intergovernmental Task Force on Fruit and Vegetable Juices (TFFJ) was abolished in 2011, the Committee’s terms of reference were updated to also include juices. 

CCPFV has been adjourned sine die on two occasions. The first adjournment took place in 1987, after which the Committee resumed its work in 1998. CCPFV was subsequently adjourned sine die again in 2020. . At CAC48, the United States of America announced that they would no longer be hosting CCPFV and it was agreed that the Republic of Korea would become the new host of the Committee.
