Emilio Esteban / a new perspective, but the same values

Following his confirmation as the new United States of America Under Secretary of Agriculture for Food Safety, Emilio Esteban, Chairperson of the Codex Committee on Food Hygiene (CCFH) sent a brief message to the Codex Secretariat.

Throughout my tenure in Codex I have been extremely lucky to have worked with extraordinary people. Great minds and kind hearts that shared a common goal. Professionals that are willing to understand the value of science and balance that with the reality that exists in our homes around the world.

This appointment gives me the opportunity to give back to society.  It provides me with a different level platform to expound on our core values for safe food and fair trade. Food unites us all with an inevitable force that crosses country borders and social boundaries.

This new role, will provide me with a new perspective, but this is still the same person, with the same values.  An opportunity to make a more significant contribution and, if possible, help others along the way.
