New website simplifies analytical methods for special dietary foods

A new "Test Methods for Special Dietary Foods" website has been launched by the International Special Dietary Foods Industries (ISDI), supported by AOAC International and the International Dairy Federation. This platform serves as a comprehensive and authoritative guide to analytical methods for nutrients in special dietary foods, aiming to enhance food safety, quality, and global testing harmonization. It helps authorities, laboratories, and industry professionals find reliable, internationally recognized test methods, acting as an updated reference reflecting global consensus. Jean Christophe Kremer, ISDI Secretary General, highlighted its importance in finding validated analytical methods and mitigating risks.

“This new one-stop shop website for methods of analysis for foods for special dietary uses is very complementary to Codex efforts and in line with efforts to increase the recognition and use of Codex Standards”. - said Sarah Cahill, Codex Secretary.

The website, presented at an ISDI webinar on June 10, 2025, currently focuses on infant and follow-up formulas, with plans to expand to other special dietary food categories and contaminants. It provides method information, including links to development organizations.
