ACT project to share experiences at the 6th Global Conference on Foodborne AMR
The FAO-implemented Action to support implementation of Codex AMR texts (ACT) project will share its experiences and challenges at the 6th Global Conference on Foodborne Antimicrobial Resistance (GCFA), an international platform that brings together experts and countries to exchange knowledge and advance global action on foodborne AMR.
Launched in 2021, the ACT project supports countries in implementing Codex standards on antimicrobial resistance (AMR), developed in response to Members’ requests for guidance in addressing foodborne AMR. These Codex standards have gained strong international recognition, including in the 2024 United Nations General Assembly Political Declaration on AMR and the 2025 FAO Resolution on Antimicrobial Resistance.
The ACT project currently supports six countries—Bolivia (Plurinational State of) and Colombia in Latin America, and Cambodia, Mongolia, Nepal and Pakistan in Asia—and is scheduled to conclude in July 2026.
At the conference, the ACT project will deliver three presentations, covering a global overview as well as country experiences, including Mongolia and Colombia. ACT project videos will also be showcased to highlight key achievements and lessons learned.
The 6th GCFA will take place from 13 to 14 May 2026 at Hotel Naru Seoul. The theme of this year’s conference is “New Horizon for Foodborne AMR Response: Building Big Data and Innovating Global Food Safety Management.”
The programme is structured around three main sessions:
- Session 1: Global policy trends and national strategies for foodborne AMR response
- Session 2: Innovations in AMR response using cutting-edge technology and artificial intelligence (AI)
- Session 3: Data-driven integrated management of AMR in the food supply chain and international cooperation
Opening remarks will be delivered by Yu-Kyoung OH, Minister of the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety, followed by congratulatory remarks from Thanawat Tiensin, Assistant Director General of Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO). Experts from China, England, Japan, Germany and the United States of America will also share their experiences.
Online registration is open, and registered participants will be able to follow the conference via YouTube livestream.
